چکیده

Abstract In the Anthropocene era, an immersion of toxic substances, i.e., trace metals, has been enhanced in marine environment not only due to urban sprawl and industrial development but predominantly owing incongruous management lack sustainable approaches. The coastal region Pakistan shares a similar obstacle as most developing countries confronted. Therefore, this study was designed investigate concentrations eight metals (Cu, Fe, Zn, Ni, Co, Pb, Cr, Cd) sediment Dotillid crab, Ilyoplax frater , at three tidal creeks Karachi, Pakistan. All sediments crabs were analyzed by atomic absorption spectrometer. pollution evaluated contamination degree (CD) potential ecological risk index (RI). After depicting metal sediments, accumulation, benthic crab investigated through total crabs, accumulation factor (AF), correlation analysis, regression analysis. results exhibited substantial differences Cd among creek sediments. Contamination factors indicated that Pb had highest sharing pollution, classified moderately contaminated. accumulations showed notable spatial variations, (AFs) for > 1.0, signifying strong bioaccumulation crabs. Particularly, Cu, levels considerably greater (two times) compared creek’s even though they don’t share any relationship between two matrixes. Hydrographical sedimentological traits also revealed significant interactions with A association noticed Interestingly, AFs inverse environmental matrix. Exceptionally, positive found concentration suggested I. probably acts indicator pollution.

Tidal salt marsh sediment in California, USA. Part 2: occurrence and anthropogenic input of trace metals.

Surface sediment samples (0-5 cm) from 5 tidal salt marshes along the coast in California, USA were analyzed to investigate the occurrence and anthropogenic input of trace metals. Among study areas, Stege Marsh located in the central San Francisco Bay was the most contaminated marsh. Concentrations of metals in Stege Marsh sediments were higher than San Francisco Bay ambient levels. Zinc (55.3-...

Discriminating mesozooplankton communities in Bushehr marine coastal ecosystems- Persian Gulf

Coastal ecosystems of Bushehr are shallow environments subject to human impacts, including shrimp aquaculture and urban expansion activities. A spatial-temporal study was conducted in order to assess the actual ecological status of the creeks, estuary and marine sites on the basis of their taxonomic composition and density of mesozooplankton. Zooplankton species distribution and abundance data ...

Trace Metals in the Bed Sediment of Small Urban Streams

Trace metals (TMs) are still a serious problem in urban streams because of their toxicity and continuing significant levels in the aquatic environment, especially in bed sediments. Concentrations of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb and Zn were monitored in the sediments of several small streams in the Prague area. These streams differ in the main source of pollution (combined sewer overflow CSO, storm water ...
